The Blessings of the Womb :: Devotional Day 3

“The God of your father—may he help you!
And may The Strong God (El Shaddai)—may she give you her blessings,
Blessings tumbling out of the skies,
blessings bursting up from the Earth—
           blessings of breasts and womb.”
~ Genesis 49: 21-26

These are the blessings of womb: nourishment, belonging, and safety. The nourishment God offers means that we grow. We develop and change- just like a fetus in a womb.

The womb of God is a hospitable place. This God communicates: you belong here. You are part of me; you share my blood, cells, nutrients. You are welcome in my body; rest, get strong, grow.

The womb of God is a safe place; there are built-in features to protect the guest. It’s a cozy, shielded place for growth to take place.

These are the blessings Jacob wishes upon his family as they prepare for mission. The blessings of nourishment, belonging, and safety.

Can you imagine yourself nestled in the womb of God? It is dark, but comfortable. With what does this Mama God wish to nourish you?

What do you need most from this dark, fertile space?
What is being germinated and fed?
